The Hope of Easter 復活節的盼望
We just celebrated Easter Sunday a couple weeks back. Easter Sunday is the most important holiday in the Christian calendar. It is even more important than Christmas. The very reason Christians gather to worship on a Sunday is because of Easter Sunday—the day Jesus resurrected from the dead. Therefore, the resurrection of Jesus is the pillar on which Christianity stands and it is also the tangible reality of our hope.
1. 1 Corinthians 15:19 “If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.” The real power of Jesus Christ is not so much about what He can do for us today, but about what He can do for us for eternity. It is the power of His resurrection. It is Him defeating sin and death once and for all. Therefore, our hope is not found in the comforts of today but through the resurrection of our bodies when He returns.
2. Daniel 12:2 “Many of those who sleep in the dusty ground will awake—some to everlasting life, and others to contempt and everlasting shame.” Everyone will be resurrected, both the believers and unbelievers. The believers will be resurrected with new glorified bodies to enjoy eternity with Jesus, while the unbelievers will be resurrected with eternal bodies that will suffer and be tormented in hell for the rest of eternity.
3. You must live with eternity in mind. All of us as Christians must always have eternity in our minds. It doesn’t make much sense to be a Christian if our hope is only found in this life. The whole point of Christianity is grounded in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Therefore as Christians, we must always live with an eternal mindset.
