Asking God for Wisdom

People all over the world are feeling the effects of the Coronavirus. No doubt it has taken a toll on our mental, physical, and emotional health. There are many uncertainties and questions about how to move on with our lives in this ongoing crisis. Senior prom has been cancelled.  Graduating-in-person has been cancelled.  Summer vacations and travel plans have been cancelled.  Weddings have been cancelled or postponed.  Some are having “online” weddings without the presences of extended families to celebrate with them. Everybody’s struggling.

The Bible tells us in James 1:5-6 what all we should do when we don’t know what to do.   If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.  But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

God gives wisdom to anybody who asks for it. Have you asked God to give you wisdom on how to handle the pandemic? Have you asked him for wisdom on what to do about your job, your future, your kids, your health, or whatever you're struggling with? God gives wisdom to anybody who asks for it.  He wants us to ask for wisdom.

Solomon was one of the wealthiest and most successful kings.  He had everything  anyone could ever want or need.  But still he asked God for wisdom. Why?  King Solomon knew that riches and power and comfort meant nothing if he couldn’t make wise decisions.

Wisdom helps you learn from any trouble you are experiencing today.  God wants to use the pain, the hurts, the struggles to challenge you to develop into the likeness of his Son Jesus Christ. As we face the challenges in the months ahead, know this, God wants you to learn from the crisis and He had promise to give you wisdom in generous portions.  Just ask Him.
